Thesis Work

As a graduate of Boston Architectural College with a Masters in Sustainable Design, I’m passionate about creating valuable, sustainable and regenerative solutions by which humans can continue to live without threatening to render our planet uninhabitable. I believe great design has the power to change the world, and decided to focus my thesis studies on healing our built environment with bio-based materials, specifically Hempcrete. Focusing on addressing indoor contaminants and their effect on our health, I strived to advance education and awareness of this very important public health issue to promote safe and healthy buildings. Post-graduation, I was invited to deliver my thesis work on the TEDxCharlottesville stage in November of 2014.

“My objectives are quite simple, to be open-minded and to leave the world better than I found it.”

“I believe design has the power to move people and organizations to change the world, but first they must be inspired to do so. Bound by the restrictive nature of reducing our dependence on oil, a finite resource fueling everything encompassed in today’s society, we’re heading down a path of destruction. My vision is a world which runs on nature rather than petroleum. Continuing to prohibit industrial hemp in these trying financial times, is to damper the opportunity for all to prosper. This amazing part of nature can be used for biofuel, food, fiber, and medicine, all the while creating new jobs, promoting industry and generating new tax revenues. Farmers around the nation are advocating for this crop with incredible interest and the beginning of the dismantling of restrictive legislation is looking towards the revitalization of an entire lost industry. Now it is time to organize collective thought to make industrial hemp, once again, one of the greatest economic engines directing us into a sustainable, prosperous future.”
